"History of the North Boroughs Lions Club" **** The North Boroughs Lions Club was organized on August 27, 1935, and received their charter from the District Governor Dr. Herve C. Manon of the Washington Lions Club on October 23, 1935. The club was co-sponsored by the Wilkinsburg, East Liberty, North Side, and Pittsburgh Host Lions Club. Dr. Earl D. Baumann of this club served as District Governor in 1935-43 and was elected International Director to serve the term 1949-1951. The Charter President was Lion John W. Vickerman, Jr.,and the Charter Secretary was Lion David Bannett. The North Boroughs Lions Club has sponsored the North Suburban, Perry Highway and Quaker Valley Lions Clubs. Our founder, Melvin Jones, made his last visit to District 14B when he spoke at the 25th Charter Anniversary of the North Boroughs Lions Club at the Shannopin Country Club in 1960, just prior to his death in 1961. ** NBLC Historian - Samuel Sokol **
